The top right image is a digital picture of a marble slab that was taken at the suppliers warehouse. The two images to the left are the 3d AutoCAD models of a vanity cabinet and lavatory. I mapped the marble image to the CAD model and the results are the two pictures at the bottom right. The uses of this combination of modeling & imagery are endless. In the model, one can change the vanity top color by merely changing the picture of the marble. With marbles of detailed veining you can determine how the pattern of the marble is aligned in the top and how the top patterns align with the backsplash patterns.
I drew this model because I had a customer that could not understand the detail that I wanted where the top and splash meet. See the next image.
